I think either is fine, but I think you should get baptized as an adult. _________________ Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. |

either is fine, but... what do you mean with that? i.e. when you're baptized as a child, isn't confirmation enough?
Imo it's both fine indeed, the most important thing is that you 1. get baptized, and 2. agree with the baptism in full agreement. I mean with that, that you or should be baptized as an adult, and that child baptism gets to the point of adult baptism the moment you confirm it yourself.
When you're baptized as a child, I don't think you must get re-baptized as an adult. You're baptized once, and with that written in Gods hand, you only have to confirm it. The only reason could be that one changes from a child-baptism church to an adult-baptism church, and isn't able to do anything of meaning in the new church without adult baptism. I can imagine one re-baptizes that moment. But still, one could question the reason of that then. Do you get baptized for God or for the church?
For myself, I'm going to a denomination with infant-baptizing. I had confirmation 2 years ago, and it was awesome. _________________ Vemod over det tapte liv

Infan baptism is not in the Bible. The Greek "baptizo" means to submerge. Babies who are "baptized" are sprinkled or poured on, not submerged. In order to be baptized, you must repent, which means to turn from sin. Infants cannot turn from sin. Baptism is a choice, where people choose to believe what is truth and to be washed clean from sin and to repent. Infants can't do all that.
Interesting find on infant baptism. http://www.wayoflife.org/fbns/fbns/fbns209.html _________________ -=|Christina|=-

Well, when you look at the purpose of baptism( which is for one to identify with the death and resurrection of Christ), child baptism doesnt make much sense, since the child doesnt even know what is going on.
i always thought of child baptism as more of the parents promising to raise their child as a christian, and when you look at it that way, then child baptism is significant. The problems occur when parents with dead faith get their child baptized merely because its "family tradition", or some other reason, then never enter a church again. this is a huge problem in my family anyway.
its that that makes me feel that child baptism isnt such a great idea. |
